For several year GKR Scaffolding have been running IT for their business on the exc ellent platform of Microsoft Small Business Server 2003. However the server was running out of space, and more crucially the Exchange Server maximum capacity of 75GB had been reached. It was time to look at an upgrade
Impreza advised a migration from the 2003 version of Microsoft Small Business Server (SBS) to the latest 2011 version. In order to remove the space problem and give all the other benefits of the latest 2011 update, we drew up the specification for a new HP ProLiant server which has capacity for significant future growth.
The new hardware was installed on a Thursday afternoon and the users carried on working as normal on Friday whilst the migration was started. Over the weekend, remote mail access was disabled as we used this time to move mailboxes. On Monday the users logged in as normal but their mailboxes were now on the new server and email was flowing normally again. Then all data, printers and any local desktop customisations were made in preparation for turning the old server off.
They now have a platform to last them for a lot more years to come.
