Lavenders, a large Residential Care Home in West Malling Kent, secured a substantial grant from the Get Connected Fund to enable it to improve access for residents, carers, visitors and staff to information and communications technology (ICT) so they can use the power of the internet to communicate, learn and train. Impreza were invited along with a number of other IT companies to quote. for the installation of a wireless network.
Following a site feasibility study, we developed a wireless implementation strategy that took into consideration the complex building layout. Due to the building comprising a number of narrow corridors, it was important to position the access points at locations where the signal could be sufficiently balanced.
We installed 13 wireless access points, which were managed by a central wireless controller. This device allows the access points to provide the strongest signal to the user, wherever they are located within the building. The wireless controller also provides an administration interface, allowing Lavenders staff to manage who has access to the wireless network.
